What are the current laws regarding Americans traveling to Cuba?
what’sfair asked:
I haven’t heard so much about it lately. We travel to the Caribbean twice per year. We usually meet many Canadians and Brits on our vacations. They all rave about how wonderful the Cuban resorts are and how great the people are.
We would love to go, but it seems that we are still living by outdated restrictions and laws. It cannot be about Communism, because our most of the goods in this country come from China. What is it?

two sides of the story
We should drop the embargo. It has hurt Cuba economically for 45 years and it is passé. The U.S. is a bit backwards in many ways. They still think we are in a Cold War with Russia. You can go there as a journalist direct from the U.S. and you can also gain entry through Mexico or Canada, flying direct from either of those countries. It is the strong anti-Castro lobby in Congress made up of Cuban exiles of the business and elite classes. When we were in a stalemate with the USSR we could travel there but Cuba is 90 miles away and U.S. always fears influence of other political views.
